Jewels - Helen Britton's Industrial Romantic jewelry exhibition

On December 18th at the Antonella Villanova Gallery in Florence (Italy) opened Industrial Romantic, the first Italian solo exhibition dedicated to the Australian-born (1966) jewelry designer Helen Britton, who has moved her studio in Munich since 2002.

The Florentine exhibition hosted in Palazzo Ricasoli doesn't aim to retrace the entire career of the designer, but through the last two collections and a few pieces from the archive, presents Helen Britton as a complete artist introducing people her personal way of creating jewelry.

At first sight Britton's style seems to embrace the recycling philosophy, but the colored plastic flowers and the semi-precious stones discovered in flea markets live a new life (romantic concept of re-use) on industrial-like metal bases which harmonize all the pieces into a whole one. Her style reveals an in-depth research of colors and shapes inspired by her childhood, when she was living in Australia, surrounded by steel industries and shipyards.

Heavy metals, abstract figures, memories from the past and precious stones come together into a whole new aesthetic, which goes beyond the classical beauty, amusing the simple visitor and charming the collectors who are looking for truly unique jewelry pieces.
