Men's fashion trends for Fall Winter 2013/14

The fashion designers from all around the world have returned their verdict and after London, Florence, Milan and Paris, we realized that the Autumn Winter 2013/14 menswear will be characterized by a strong dichotomy between the refined elegance of sophisticated dandies and the typical middle-class boy who plays it safe without mistakes, or nearly so.

However there have been a few "fashion licences" on the casual style side: the dandies seem the dictators' descendants of Miuccia Prada (who modeled on the catwalk just over a year ago) with tapestry prints, furs and military uniforms; while the new bourgeois reveal a certain passion for the arts, wearing geometric compositions referring to Bauhaus (very radical chic) and risky color contrasts that would horrified the more conservative tailors.

The fall winter 2013/2014 man is a sort of Dr.Jekyll & Mr.Hyde and when he doesn't live his quiet resting life, becomes a whimsical narcissist, with a great sense of style.

Gli stilisti di tutto il mondo si sono espressi: da Londra, Firenze, Milano e Parigi abbiamo capito che la moda uomo Autunno Inverno 2013/14 è caratterizzata da una forte dicotomia tra la ricercata eleganza di sofisticati dandy amanti dello sfarzo, e lo stile più misurato e rigoroso, del tipico ragazzo borghese, che va sul sicuro senza sbagliare, o quasi. Non sono mancate però ironie e piccole libertà sul versante dello stile casual: se infatti i dandy ci sembrano discendenti dei dittatori mandati in passerella giusto un anno fa da Miuccia Prada con stampe tappezzeria, pellicce e divise militari; sul versante borghese spopolano dettagli che rivelano una certa passione per gli studi umanisti, come le composizioni geometriche che si rifanno al Bauhaus (very radical chic) e rischiosi contrasti cromatici fintamente ribelli, ma che farebbero comunque inorridire i sarti più conservatori.

L'uomo dell'inverno 2013 è quindi una sorta di Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hide che quando non vive una vita tranquilla e posata, si trasforma in un lord narcisista e capriccioso, ma dotato di un grande senso dello stile.

Miuccia Prada last year had a great success after presenting her collection dedicated to the "men of power" : dictators of every era in their uniforms embellished with tapestry prints and fur inserts.

This year, several designers, even the most traditional ones, proposed dandies with military uniforms, furs, gold buttons, double-breasted vests and very few ties.

So nothing prevents me from thinking that next year the catwalks will be a triumph of bourgeois boys, interpreters of a faux messy style, just like the ones by Mrs. Prada.

So I'm asking you, what's going on to the other designers?

Looking and copying Prada, are they chasing an already old idea, or a "so futuristic" idea, which becomes Zeitgeist only after one year and a half?

Miuccia Prada l'anno scorso ha riscosso grande successo dopo aver presentato una collezione dedicata agli "uomini di potere" : dittatori di ogni epoca in tenute militari impreziosite da stampe tappezzeria ed inserti di pelliccia. 

Quest'anno in quasi tutte le altre passerelle, persino nelle più rigorose e tradizionali, hanno sfilato dandy impellicciati dall'aplomb militare: bottoni dorati, doppiopetto, gilet e pochissime cravatte. 

Nulla quindi mi impedisce di pensare che l'anno prossimo sarà un tripudio di ragazzotti borghesi interpreti di uno stile finto disordinato ed essenziale, proprio come quello mandato in passerella dalla borghese radical chic per eccellenza. 

Ma allora, mi e vi chiedo, che cosa stanno rincorrendo i colleghi di questa signora? 

Un'idea già vecchia, o un'idea talmente "avanti" per essere compresa nell'immediato, che diventa Zeitgeist solo nei due anni successivi?
